Ah, the food. From Jen and Aaron's lunch feast to eating out Colombian style, we ate some delicious food! One thing we learned is that the food schedule goes something like this: small snack for breakfast, large, hefty lunch in the later afternoon, and a very light supper in the late evening. We noticed the absence of some of the preservatives and additives that are so common here. For example, potato chips (which Colombians love) actually taste like potatoes! And, oh, the coffee lives up to it's impeccable reputation. It's wonderful.
We experienced Ajiaco at a restaurant, which was a soup with a vegetable base and potatoes in it, topped with cooked chicken and sauces. It was served with a rice pilaf, an avocado, and more potatoes.
Jen and Aaron served us enchiladas (green and red) which were out-of-this-world good!
Jen and Aaron's good Colombian friends had us all over for breakfast, which was a thick tortilla-like bread (name, Jen?) served with an egg scramble with tomatoes and green onions.
We also went to a favorite restaurant among the MCCers, called Crepes and Waffles. This place was amazing! They served any kind of crepe you can imagine: sweet or savory, and then they served all those dishes in bread bowls as well, or waffles. The dessert menu was beautiful! Mark, of course, could not resist the Nutella and banana crepe for dessert.
