WEDDING

The reason for our trip south this year: Mark's mom got married! The wedding was just lovely. It's summer in Uruguay, and a mild one this year, so the weather was very pleasant. The wedding took place at a beautiful camp amongst the vineyards in the Uruguayan countryside. For those of you who may not know, Trudy grew up in Uruguay and returned several years ago, so this is home for her. At the wedding, there was not only beautiful scenery and animals, but there was delicious food, very friendly people, and beautiful music. Unfortunately, our family could not make it as late as the rest. We went home to our apartment by about 10:30, and dinner had just been served. Uruguayans typically eat dinner around this time.

Our family sang two songs for the wedding. We sang "I Will" by the Beatles, and the girls won the hearts of the guests when they sang loud and clear on their own for the chorus: "love you forever and forever, love you with all my heart. love you whenever we're together, love you when we're apart." We also sang the song "If I Needed You" by Townes Van Zandt. We so enjoyed meeting the guests, some of which we had met 2 years ago on our previous trip. Once again, it was very frustrating not to know how to communicate in Spanish. Every time this happens, it gives us sympathy for those who are learning English as a second language. Here are a few pictures of the wedding night.

I love this series of posts - it all looks magical and lovely. We had the Townes song at our wedding, too. And oh to have heard your family!

Good luck on the next part of your journey!!
