PLAYA VERDE

Last time we came here, we spent Christmas day at the beach house of one of Trudy's friends. When Trudy asked if we had any requests for this trip, all we could think of was to go back to this beach house. So after the wedding, we packed up and headed to the small town of Playa Verde (Green Beach) and spent a few wonderful days there.

Imagine being a worn-out parent of small children who lives a life which can easily become overwhelming. Then, imagine coming to a place where you are fed the best food you've ever eaten at every meal, adults that are willing and eager to entertain your young children are plentiful, and you can walk half a block to get to a beautiful beach, where your kids run and play and are happy. If that is not luxury, I don't know what is! At Playa Verde, there is clean sand and water, as well as large protruding rock formations, which provide their own kind of playground. It was a wonderful respite for a few days.

We don't know if the name of this beach is because there is foliage and dunes surrounding it, or if it's because of the green seaweed that washes up on the shore. It is beautiful, nonetheless. I also wanted to point out the dog you'll see if some pictures. This dog was seriously the lifeguard of the beach. One morning, the kids were restless and so I took them down to the beach early (7a.m.). This dog was sleeping under the lifeguard chair. While people were on the beach, he would pace up and down the coast. If the waves got too wild or if someone swam too far out, he would yip and yip and jump up and down. He reminded us of Maggie.
