TREASURES

We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures. Thornton Wilder

Thank you, soulemama, for reminding me why I blog, and for reminding me to keep capturing these treasures.

Yesterday, I was buzzing all around from one thing to the next: yarn store, gymnastics, school, grocery, library. Buzzing around in this area is much more laborsome than some other places. It takes so much effort. So, when we came home I was really tired. I felt frazzled because there were about 8 loads of stuff to carry in from the car, Quinn needed to nurse and sleep, and the girls wanted me to read the books we had just brought home from the library, and get a snack. So, I triaged. Quinn came first. As I was nursing him to sleep in the sunny, quiet bedroom, I heard Mark come home! Oh, the relief I feel when he comes home early. He peeked in the bedroom and said he would take care of the groceries. Ah.

Well, Quinn didn't go to sleep, so I came down to work on the snack part. As I was preparing some yummy stovetop popcorn (I had a brief affair with microwave popcorn, but have returned to the pot), I suddenly noticed a quiet calm. I didn't hear anything except some quiet giggles coming from the bedroom. I made myself some tea and looked around the house. This is what I found:

Greta enjoying her favorite food: Green Grapes

Mali, enjoying the books

and the source of the giggles

And so I sat down and enjoyed my tea, and the quiet, and the calm.

Hey, my kids love Cynthia Rylant books too! And that expression on Mali's face is very very familiar. Complete absorption. Thanks for your day!
