Greta loves Magic School Bus books. After reading one this morning about sinking and floating, we got out a big bowl of water to test out things around the house.
Here is what we found:
Sinkers: matchbox car, balled up bread, pear, jewels, felt cheese (floated until it soaked up water), cup full of water, water bottle cap, tea bag
Floaters: wood dominoes, wood blocks, pencil, slice of bread (not balled up), paper

Since Greta is enjoying discovering things that sink or float, you might consider making a Cartesian Diver together. Not only are they fun and easy to make, she will learn alot about the principles of buoyancy.
