BRING ON THE PUMPKINS!

We had a lovely day of collecting our pumpkins to make into jack-o-lanterns. The farm we went to was crowded with city folk, and was such a tourist trap. But, most importantly, we got to spend it with my mom and with some dear friends. It was a great day, with sun on pumpkins, friends to be with, and topped off with a nature night hike. Today we carved the pumpkins. Mali was very into it, and named her jack-o-lantern Ella. This should be a compliment to the real Ella, since she is careful only to name things the most beautiful name she can think of. Greta was less enthused about the carving procedure, but just wanted to be sure her jack-o-lantern looked scary and was named Harry. So, here is the making of Ella and Harry.

Oh, and another fun part of the farm outing was seeing (for the first time) cotton growing right out of the plant.

Well, my Ella will be beside herself with pleasure that there is a pumpkin who shares her name! : ) It looks like you all had a wonderful day! Oh, and I love the look on Mali's face as she looks at the cotton.

I had a candle to send you, Katie, but I never got around to it and then it broke. I'm burning it as is and thinking of you. Peace to you in the waiting...or maybe you're no longer waiting!
