GOODBYE, GRANDMA L

Last Sunday, Mark's grandma L passed away. I regret that I don't know more about her life, and maybe I will learn more now. She was a musician, teaching at a small local college in Kansas, and her instrument was the upright bass. Once I heard her talking about an excessively strict music teacher she had at Bethel, and she emphasized, "her name was Wil-HEL-mina." Unbeknownst to her, Wilhelmina was my great aunt. I had to laugh, thinking of Aunt Willow's reputation in our family. I know that she was close with her cousins for all of her days. Early on in my learning about Mark's family, I was impressed with how those cousins stayed in touch as adults. I wanted to post a few pictures that I do have of her to remember her. Rest peacefully, Grandma, Mother, Cousin, Daughter, Annafern.

I've been thinking about you guys; family in Kansas must feel far away right now. I don't know Grandma L, but the pictures sure look like Lakins to me...I wish I could bring you all a pot of soup...
