GRATITUDE

Today, I am filled with gratitude for our safety, and slightly haunted by all the "what if"s. We were in a car accident yesterday afternoon. We crashed between an SUV in front of us and a furniture truck behind us. We're all safe and sound. It was quite an experience for the girls and I (Mark wasn't there). The girls have been asking lots of questions, and speculating about the health of our van. We think it's probably totaled, since the front and back were both smashed in. Greta thinks they may be able to fix our van with some tape and glue. Mali says it might require some hammers and nails. These next few days we hope to find out. We're definitely looking at some stressful days ahead as we figure it all out, and try to survive in this land of suburbia as a one (moderately reliable) car family. All in all, the girls have been very brave. We got to ride in a real fire engine, when the fire fighters generously transported us to the nearest bagel shop -- a better place to wait for Mark then the side of the road! They must have seen that I was not about to cross that busy intersection carrying two girls and two car seats and a pregnant belly!

We will head to the chiropractor today for all of us to be scanned and checked. Actually, we were ironically on our way to the chiropractor when this happened.

Today I am sore, but it's hard to tell if it's from something that happened in the accident, or from holding both girls for about an hour in the middle of the busy intersection while the police and firefighters swarmed the accident, figuring out all the details. Thankfully, no one else was hurt either. And thankfully for insurance purposes, we won't be at fault, although Greta keeps telling me I was probably driving too fast :). Don't worry -- I wasn't.

Ditto to what Jen said. I'm thankful you're surrounded by two resiliant, creative, happy girls who seem to know how to fix the situation. :)

Oh my goodness, i am soo relieved. And Ditto, ditto!

We were rear ended about a year ago and the other driver's insurance company not only picked up the tab, but rented us a car to drive for the month it was in the shop. As we only have one car, this was desperately needed. Just remember that there are options.
