CHRISTMAS 2009

Well, yes, it is actually Groundhog day. But. . . . that's about the pace at which things are rolling here. We had a lovely time celebrating Christmas in Uruguay. It's never quite the same as being at home, and we missed some aspects of that. However, we were keenly aware of what a rare treat it was for us to be there. The new family was eager to help us with our communications to Santa. The teenagers were welcoming and friendly and interested in the traditions. It was lovely. Santa did bring some goodies for the stockings, but we made sure he knew to leave any other gifts in Georgia. We feasted (of course) with the family we were getting to know, including Carlos' sister and mother. To hype up the festive factor a bit, the girls and I made crowns for everyone, and amazingly, everyone agreed to wear them at least for some time. Once again. we were grateful to be there and to be welcomed so warmly.
