After a very stressful couple of weeks leading up to this trip, we finally made it off. We spent the last several days scrambling to get our house ready to put on the market at the same time as getting ready for the trip. The night before departure, we met with our realtor, and sadly discovered it was not a good idea to put the house on the market. We have a lot to decide yet on that front.
But, we were able to close the door on all that stress, at least for now, and force ourselves into a relaxed state of vacation. We took off as soon as Mark could get out of school and faced 11 hours of airport time and 11 hours of flying time. Here are a few pictures of how we survived that time.
The kids did pretty well, with a few hairy moments. They all slept on the plane, and even though Mark and I didn't, we couldn't ask for a better overnight flight. This was despite the fact that dinner was served at 4 a.m. or the lack of respect for quiet and dark, or the fact that we had a prisoner in our row, and his escort, who was sitting next to Mark was so large, he basically took up 1.5 seats. (we actually lucked out because the escort requested a re-arrangements of seats to improve his control over the prisoner, so our family got two window seats in the end). We arrived safely with all our luggage to the welcoming arms of Nana Tru in sunny Montevideo.
