NEW TECHNIQUE

I have to say I am very excited about this new technique that I learned. I adapted it from a pattern I saw on The Purl Bee. What I did was felted a wool sweater, cut and sewed the felted wool into mittens, sewed knitting stitches onto double pointed needles, and knitted a ribbed cuff inside the felted wool mitten. This results in a very warm mitten with a nice soft, tight-fitting cuff to keep out unwanted figidity at the wrist. Here are some pictures to demonstrate how I went about doing it.

Way to go! These are fantastic. I hope you are planning on selling them in your shop!

Actually, Marla, these did not make it to my etsy shop, because they were a custom order. I discovered how much I love to do custom orders! I found that I enjoyed making them even more, thinking of the person I as making them for along the way.

I don't get how you got the white part onto the green part. It doesn't look like you were merely picking up stitches - which you couldn't do once it was felted.....?

mom, that's the exciting part! I used a yarn needle and yarn and sewed stitches onto the felted mitten and onto the needles at the same time.

very exciting.
