I will not pretend that we weren't hot and tired and hungry and grumpy and irritated with the crowd. There was that. But, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens are truly a beautiful sight to behold! Nestled right in the heart of the city there are expanses of beautiful gardens. We encountered art, nature, play, stories, refreshing water, a healthy (!) cafe, and I was struck in the middle of it at how everywhere I looked I saw something beautiful.
The botanical gardens here features an artist who is inspired by nature, and integrates that artists' work into the gardens. We were fortunate enough to go during the Henry Moore exhibit. Massive sculptures of mothers and babies adorned the already-breathtaking surroundings. It was another pleasant reminder that Atlanta is a nice city.
I would not say it was an easy day, but it was well worth it. All of us enjoyed this outing, and would do it again and again.
But, oh did we miss our friends, who would have been there with us if they could.

Oh you are brave! I would have gone if I had known about the sculptures.
beautiful!
I'd say the grumpiness was worth it. What a fabulous botanical garden. Do I see a Chihuly fountain there? And the sculpture! And the scarecrows!
