RAIN, RAIN. . .

I keep trying to sing Joe's song, "Rain, rain, please don't go away. There's so much that needs to grow today. Rain, rain, please don't go away. I love H2O!" But, after days and days of it and days and days in the forecast, the damp and the dark are getting old. The other day, I was putting in some laundry while Greta and Mali were outside playing. I heard Greta call me with a sincere urgency, and my first thought was, "uh-oh." But, when I called back, "what is it?" she said, "You have GOT to come and see this. It is wonderful out here!" She was right. I went out and the air had lifted a bit, the rain had left some generous puddles, and there was just a gentle sprinkle. The kids played and played in that rain and it's puddles, and I loved being a spectator.

I know I've mentioned before how much Quinn loves water. If we get anywhere near a lake or pool, it takes all my strength to keep him in my arms. He pleas with all his strength and power to get.in.the.water.now!!! Well, we've realized that this is the same for rain. When it rains, he wants to go get in it. He will walk right out in the rain and stand there getting soaked with a grin on his face. He sees puddles, and it's like the lake. Oh, he also loves to drink water, so we have to be careful (he's started cautiously putting his little face close to the puddles. .). If anyone is drinking water around him, he basically dives for it and wants to gulp it all down himself.

Gosh, after that horrible, horrible drought a few years ago, I bet that rain feels pretty good! (but I do hear you on with it being too much sometimes)

Great pictures!

We need rain here, too.

Quinn looks so much older, suddenly. Babies just DO that, you know?
