We had a great weekend camping with friends by the Gulf of Mexico! It was beautiful. We spent parts of 2 days playing on the beach, and in between camped nearby. The beach was a wide span of fine white powder, and the ocean was turquoise green. There was very little trash, and not many people. I didn't expect it to be warm enough to swim, but oh, it was. If only the red flag weren't flying, I would have been in there!
Some things I came to realize again this weekend:
I love the sound of a child playing the harmonica
I love to sing my kids to sleep, and I shouldn't just do it as a last resort
Fresh air makes sleeping so lovely
Beaches wipe us out, which feels good
Good friends are like gold
Love for the wild is a treasure to behold: in child or adult alike
Hearing the hoot of an owl is like a lullaby to me
There are many parts of Georgia (although this is Florida) that are beautiful and I want to explore them all! Already, I am feeling like we are running out of time here. I guess we'll always come back, but it's different living here and only driving 1/2 a day to get to some of these places.

I am inspired to play more music, especially when I'm not leading "group singing" for everyone. I'm excited to camp more, now that we are figuring out camping with kids. I even have new ideas about how to make the preparation easier.

Another great set of memories created. Thanks for your gifts of friendship.
I can't WAIT to do this! I don't think this summer will be the time to try camping with a fresh newborn for all of us, but I KNOW Ben would LOVE it!!! Maybe if we make it up north this summer (or even our backyard), he can "camp" with his daddy and I'll be there to eat s'mores and snuggle him in.
A bit jealous, can you tell? :)
Looks like so much fun! I often sing the kids to sleep in the tent, which is cozy....need to do it more...great times! I am so glad you have found such nice friends to spend time with there....memories your kids will never forget! My lips are craving Quinns' cheeks!
What a wonderful way to spend time! Nature has a way of bringing out special feelings ... sometimes the hustle and bustle make us forget! Happy faces, special memories ...
life is good for you.
how wonderful, wonderful.
and that sand!!! i can't imagine.
Oh Katie, I love this! And please, share your Camping with wee ones 101!
We STILL need to do our camping scene in Kentucky with the horses. Maybe one day when you're driving through...
