MORE MALI THEOLOGY

I know I just posted about this, but theology seems to be on Mali's mind lately, because she's brought it up a lot. I wanted to remember what she said to me today.

Mali: Mama, where did people come from? How were we made at the very beginning?
(I took a deep breath, and attempted to explain various beliefs: creation, evolution, big bang, combinations of these), then
Mama: Many people believe many different things, and you get to figure out what you believe.
Mali: I believe that God planned a show for the whole world. In the beginning, it was all white. Then God started coloring, and when something got colored, it came alive. Now the whole world is in a big show, and God is the only one watching.

She really does come up with these things on her own, and once again I am humbled and amazed.

This should be a children's book! You should write it together! I know a good illustrator in town (Jesse Graber).

There is a tribe in Africa that believes the world started from a drop of milk. I like that one too.

I wondered about that, too, Jen. When Mali described her vision to me I thought of it as a book.

Kristin, my mom asked for a CD of the playlist, and I looked into it, but I'm pretty sure I can't do it. The reason is I think what it does is connects to a link on the internet that plays each song for free. If I find out some way to record it, I'll get it to you!
