We had a fun Saturday night out. You may or may not know that one of my dreams is to set up an outdoor movie on the side of a barn and have movie parties with straw bale seats and popcorn and movies under the stars. Well, clearly we're far from that dream in our current suburban life. But. . . around here (and maybe everywhere, I don't know) they have all these free outdoor movies in parks. We haven't tried them because of bed time. Well, this weekend, we decided to go for it, because if we reached meltdown, we could just leave. So, we went for it. It was a great night, with a clown (see Greta's reaction to the clown in the picture of her clinging to Mark), blown-up jumping and slide things, face painting, free games, and finally, a movie under the moon (didn't see the stars here in the city). We had a great, cozy time, at least until the movie (Happy Feet) got way too scary, and we just picked up and left. Overall, though, it was a really fun family night out!

That looks like a lot of fun! A few weeks ago, we were taking a walk and came across a party in a driveway and the background was on the garage door and it was a U2 concert! How awesome of an idea was that?
yeah, the problem with my dream is i think it requires an expensive projector. maybe you can rent those, who knows. when i was looking at outdoor movies in the atlanta area, i noticed there was a company that sets up outdoor movies for you. that's probably expensive, too, but interesting anyway.
Wasn't Happy Feet ridiculously scary?! Luckily Amia fell asleep when it was still really cute and happy, i.e., before the tiger seal part. As far as she's concerned it's the best movie ever!
Ah, that's so great! We took Sophie to the drive in a few weeks ago and it was SO hot we ended up leaving, but it was just wonderful to be able to be outside, AND go see a movie! What a treat! Looks like you all had a great time!
