BOOKS

I thought it might be interesting to look back on this and see what kinds of things we're reading. Mali's favorite is Milly Molly Mandy, which is a sweet British chapter book about a little girl living the small village life. Greta loves (actually is pretty obsessed with) Frog and Toad. Unfortunately, most in our household are getting tired of reading it. Luckily, she has other favorites, like the Henry and Mudge books and Goodnight Moon. Mark's consumed, as you can imagine, and I'm sure you can guess which book is his. Barak's been sitting by his bedside waiting for attention. Once when I was between books, I started reading that one, figuring Mark wasn't going to get to it for awhile. It was funny how he reacted -- "Oh. . . . (long pause). . you're going to read that one?" I've been weaning myself off of Jodi Picoult books, for no specific reason, but 19 minutes was the last I read, and may be her best in my opinion.

I've heard great things about Jodi Picoult but haven't read her. I'll have to put her on my list for next time.

I did read "Dreams from my Father" but have not yet read "The Audacity of Hope". I really enjoyed the first- felt it was written prior to presidential aspirations and therefore more... honest, less spin.

Loved the blog and to see what Mali and Greta are reading. May I suggest "The Read-Aloud Handbook." Not only is it a wonderful book on the value of reading to your kids, but the appendix of kids books (by age!) in the back is breathtaking.
