CONVERSING WITH GRETA

This morning, as she was eating breakfast:

G: "I'm dad (sad), Mama"
K: "You're sad? Why?"
G: "Betuss my tummy hurts"
K: "Your tummy hurts? I'm sorry."
G: "Mama, I'm not dad (sad)."
K: "You're not, oh good."
G: "No I'm Deta Chapkin-Bacon. I'm your daughter!"

She learned that from Mali, who for a long time has been telling us (when we refer to her as something pretend -- a fish, a kitty, a silly) "No! I'm not a _____________. I'm Amalia Ruth C-L and I'm your daughter!" Apparently Greta has picked up on that line!
