I thought I'd feature Greta, since I haven't done that yet. It's hard to know how to compartmentalize this girl's personality because it seems to explode in many directions. Greta is funny, social, excitable, and intense. She loves with great passion and gets irritated with great passion, too. Whenever anyone says the word "go" Greta starts running (no, bouncing, really) on her tiptoes yelling "doe! doe! me doo! eeee (shoes)! toat (coat)! doe!" She knows she's funny and she loves it.
Another funny thing about Greta is the progression of her expression of "yes." First, she knew that she wanted to say yes, but she was too young to have developed the motor skills to nod. So, she would take her little hand and put it on top of her head and force her head into a nod -- up and down. Then she learned to nod on her own. After a while, she discovered that when she would nod, her jaw would go up and down, so she stopped nodding and just opened and closed her mouth repeatedly. Next, she noticed that if she blew air out of her mouth while opening and closing it, she could make a sound like panting. So, her next "yes" was simply a pant, which was simplified into one quick breath in and out. Nowadays, she uses any combination of the above to communicate "yes". In addition to all this, her "yes" is always with great enthusiam and a sparkle in her eyes.
At bedtime, she likes to say goodnight to everyone we can find, and then stand in the window ledge and whisper goodnight to the moon and the stars. . . "night, moo. . . night, dah"
These are just a couple descriptions of our sweet Greta who also loves babies, songs, uncles, rhymes, dancing, cereal, and baths.
